Lu Weigang is a Level-2 Professor (Professors in China fall into 4 levels) and doctoral supervisor at Yangzhou University. He is the leader of the first-level discipline of water conservancy engineering, the leader of the advantageous discipline in Jiangsu Province, and the person in charge of the water conservancy engineering doctoral program and postdoctoral mobile station. He is also the executive director of the China Water Conservancy Education Association, the water resources demonstration and evaluation expert of the Ministry of Water Resources, the director of Jiangsu Province High-efficiency Energy-saving Large-scale Axial Flow Pump Station Engineering Research Center, and the deputy director of Water Conservancy Association Water Engineering Structure Professional Committee.

He graduated from Jiangsu Agricultural College in 1985 with a major in farmland water conservancy and stayed at the school as a teacher. He obtained a master’s degree in water conservancy and hydropower engineering from Yangzhou University in 1992 and a doctorate in engineering mechanics from Shanghai University in 2008. Since 1996, he has held various positions at Yangzhou University, such as deputy secretary and deputy director of the Water Conservancy Department of College of Agriculture, director of the Party Affairs Office of College of Water Conservancy Science and Engineering, deputy director of Personnel Office, and vice president of College of Architectural Science and Engineering. From 1999 to 2020, he was seconded to Nanjing University’s Academic Affairs Office and Personnel Office. In August 2010, he became the dean of College of Water Conservancy Science and Engineering. In July 2013, he became the director of Personnel Office. In 2016, he became the head of the Party Committee Teacher Work Department. In July 2019, he became the director of the Finance Office.

He has been engaged in teaching and scientific research in water conservancy engineering and agricultural engineering for a long time and has guided more than 60 doctoral and master students. He has done a lot of work in large-scale low-lift pump station hydraulic optimization, hydraulic structure structure optimization, farmland water conservancy engineering and high-standard farmland construction. In recent years, he has presided over more than 50 vertical and horizontal projects, including three sub-projects of the National Science and Technology Support Program and two projects of the National Natural Science Foundation. He has published more than 80 high-quality papers, authorized more than 60 national patents, edited one book, participated in editing four textbooks and works. He has won many awards as the first completed person, such as the first prize of Jiangsu Province Science and Technology Award, the second prize of Technology Invention Award from the Ministry of Education, China Water Conservancy Engineering Quality (Dayu) Scientific Research Award, one third prize for outstanding achievements from Jiangsu Provincial Social Sciences Federation and several Jiangsu Water Conservancy Science and Technology Awards. He has been rated as Jiangsu Provincial Young Backbone Teacher, National Advanced Individual for Professional Degree Graduate Education in Water Conservancy Engineering, Yangzhou City “Green Yang Jin Feng” Innovation Leader Talent , “Green Yang Jin Feng” Yangzhou University Service Team Outstanding Member and other honorary titles. He has won Yangzhou University Excellent Communist Party Member many times, won Yangzhou University “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” Scientific Research Work Advanced Individual in 2016, and was awarded Yangzhou University “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” Ten Major Scientific Research Merit Honorary Title in 2021.
