【Aim】：Agronomy (ISSN2073-4395) is an international and cross-disciplinary scholarly journal onagronomy and agroecology. It publishes reviews, regular research papers, communications and short notes, and there is no restriction on the length of the papers. Our aim is to encourage scientists to publish their experimental and theoretical research in as much detail as possible. Full experimental and/or methodical details must be provided for research articles. There are, inaddition, unique features of this journal:

• manuscripts regarding research proposals and research ideas will be particularly welcomed;

• computed data or files regarding the full detailsof the experimental procedure, if unable to be published in a normal way, canbe deposited as supplementary material;

• we also accept manuscripts communicating to abroader audience with regard to research projects financed with public funds.

  This Special Issue will focus on “Breakthroughs and Prospects of Rice Breeding”. We seek original research articles and reviews covering all related topics, including detection of genes/QTLs with important breeding value, creation of new genetic variation through gene editing, development of breeding methods, and the successful practice of rice breeding.
